Utility Pipeline Welders are integral members of NPL Construction Crews. You will support the crew by fabricating and assembling steel natural gas pipelines for residential and commercial customers.

  • Fabricate and install steel natural gas main lines & services using welding, brazing, soldering, etc.
  • Inspect, examine, and test installed systems and pipellines 
  • Maintain welding equipment and takes control of supplies and materials
  • Repair, restore and install gas pressure regulators and devices
  • Modify, clean, and maintain pipe systems, units, and fittings
  • Assist field crew on an as-needed basis in the installation or repair of gas lines
  • Perform other duties as requested by leadership

Education, Skills, Experience Needed

  • Working knowledge of underground utility and/or natural gas industry is great
  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year of steel pipe welding experience

Working Environment

  • Work sites are outdoors in potentially extreme weather conditions
  • All worksite safety instructions are written and spoken in English; must be fluent in English
  • Work includes prolonged and repeated: lifting (including overhead, up to 50lbs); standing; climbing; kneeling; reaching and feeling; crouching and crawling
  • Work is performed within the “red zone” of heavy equipment
  • Working safely requires quick/accurate hand-eye coordination


  • Pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
  • Provide valid US work authorization documents for E-Verify
  • Valid driver’s license with no more than 3 moving violations and no DUIs within a two year rolling period
  • Pre-employment medical fit-for-duty test; hold/obtain DOT medical card
  • Work with a heightened awareness within the “red zone” of heavy equipment
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and overtime
  • Join and maintain Union membership
