Our Area Fleet Manager is accountable for on-going fleet maintenance and compliance initiatives within assigned area. This includes vehicle maintenance programs, licensing, title, registration, as well as the management of drivers, fuel cards and telematics. Serve as subject matter expert resource on all matters relating to DOT/FMCSA compliance.

  • Administers local driver qualification program / files
  • Oversees all activities relating to motor vehicles and equipment (powered construction equipment, towable compressors, trailers and the like)
  • Coordinates with operations to ensure any rental units needed are sourced in a timely manner, managed while on hand, and returned having met all rental company and operations requirements
  • Maintains all local/state/federal regulatory compliance and reporting as it relates to the fleet and equipment
  • Ensures vehicle and equipment preventive maintenance programs are followed, timely approval and completion of service, per preventive maintenance schedules, is met
  • Performs regular fleet inspections to ensure safety and quality standards are at the level expected. Communicate effectively with drivers and equipment operators ensuring compliance with NPL fleet and equipment policies
  • Create and sustain an environment for NPL’s Culture of Personality Responsibility to Make It Safe, Do It Right, and Be Highly Productive
  • Conducts fleet reviews and internal audits
  • Participate in Division Safety Committee
  • Assist Safety department with Incident Investigations and Root Cause Analyses
  • Interview and hire Fleet Positions
  • Train and mentor direct reports in line with the NPL Core Values in support of One Team initiative.
  • If applicable, conduct performance reviews of employees
  • Other duties as requested by leadership 
Education, Skills, Experience Needed
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with fleet and construction equipment and 3 years of supervisory experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of OSHA, PHMSA and DOT regulations
  • General office and computer skills (Copier, I-Pad, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
  • Ability to interact with public, supervisors, and coworkers professionally at all times
  • Knowledge to Interpret telematics and GPS data for fleet and equipment
  • Understanding of third party maintenance and regulatory compliance programs
  • Ability to travel within the state routinely and out of state occasionally
  • Possess a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time and ensure timely completion
Working Environment
  • Withstand prolonged and repeated: lifting (including overhead, up to 50lbs); standing; climbing; kneeling; reaching and feeling; crouching and crawling
  • Ability to work with a heightened awareness within the “red zone” of heavy equipment
  • Ability to sit in office or vehicle for extended periods of time
  • Pass pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug screens
  • Provide valid US work authorization documents for E-Verify
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Pre-employment medical fit-for-duty test; hold/obtain DOT medical card
  • Satisfactory results of pre-employment background check results
