Responsibilities

• Administers local Driver Qualification File Program and Vehicle Maintenance Programs.
• Oversees all activities relating to motor vehicles and equipment (powered construction equipment; towable compressors; trailers and the like)
• Coordinates with operations to ensure vehicle and equipment needs are met to fulfill production needs
• Maintains all local/state/federal regulatory compliance and reporting as it relates to the fleet and equipment
• Ensures vehicle and equipment preventive maintenance programs are followed, timely approval and completion of service, per preventive maintenance schedules, is met
• Performs regular gate check inspections to ensure safety and image standards. Communicate effectively with drivers and equipment operators ensuring compliance with NPL fleet and equipment policies
• Create and sustain an environment for NPL’s Culture of Personality Responsibility to Make It Safe, Do It Right, and Be Highly Productive
• Conducts fleet reviews and internal audits
• Participate in Division Safety Committee
• Conduct Incident Investigations and Root Cause Analyses
• Interview and hire crew members
• Train employees in proper procedures and specifications
• Mentor and develop employees for succession planning
• Conduct performance reviews of employees
• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested

Education, Skills, Experience Needed

• 3 years of experience with construction equipment and 2 years of supervisory experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Knowledge to Interpret telematics and GPS data for fleet vehicles and equipment.
• Understanding of third party maintenance and regulatory compliance programs
• Skill to plan strategically with analytical critical thinking skills
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, financial reports, business plans and strategies, and legal documents
• Ability to persuade others to a course of action by instructing, convincing, or influencing through professional guidance using logic and example
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Ability to travel within the state routinely and out of state occasionally
• General office and computer skills (Copier, I-Pad, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
• Knowledge of OSHA, PHMSA and DOT regulations
•  PennDOT/MDOT knowledge
• Ability to interact with public, supervisors, and coworkers professionally at all times
• Ability to think clearly no matter the stress or difficulty of your circumstances.
• Possess a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence

Working Environment

  • Withstand prolonged and repeated: lifting (including overhead, up to 50lbs); standing; climbing; kneeling; reaching and feeling; crouching and crawling
  • Ability to work with a heightened awareness within the “red zone” of heavy equipment
  • Ability to sit in office or vehicle for extended periods of time

Requirements

  • Pass pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug screens
  • Provide valid US work authorization documents for E-Verify
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Pre-employment medical fit-for-duty test; hold/obtain DOT medical card
  • Satisfactory results of pre-employment background check results
